June 2017 Monthly Review +$29,880.00

A nice way to end my 7th year of betting, and so close to breaking even for the year, but the last day of June resulted in a $7,900 loss and that meant my 7th year of following tipster services was a $17,840.00 loss. From where I was just 4 months ago (-$155,900.00), I’m ecstatic at the comeback. Not just from a monetary perspective, but the fact I was able to handle what was a $300k+ drawdown from my all time high. With back to back losing years, most people would quit, but I feel my bank & kelly sizing is pretty good right now and there is no reason for year 8 not to be my best year ever.

I will break down year 7 in the coming months, but in total, I turned over $2,221,390.00 for a loss of $17,840.00 at a -0.80% ROI. Or to break it down even further, I lost an average of $1,486.66 per month on this little hobby.

It was great to have a month where every single model won.

In total, June saw turnover of $192,070.00 for a profit of $29,880.00 at 15.56% ROI.

I placed 83 bets over the month and won 49 and lost 34.

NRL

The NRL feels like it isn’t going as well as it had earlier in the season. But it is still pumping out profits. The H2H bets made $5,490.00 at 7.9% ROI. Those results include 4 huge bets on St George Illawarra, with just 1 winning for a loss of $13,770.00. The model really likes the dragons and at the start of the season that worked out great, but it has given back a heap over the last month.

The Totals did amazing with a $5,930.00 profit at 44.8% ROI over 16 bets. I am keeping an eye on the weather when placing these bets.

AFL

The AFL model was back to winning ways after a poor May with the H2H bets making a profit of $3,910.00 at a 13.4% ROI and the Line bets making a whopping $14,550.00 at an 18.2% ROI.

That ends a crazy and very educational 12 months of punting. I feel to be a success in any field, you really need to go through some down moments. These moments are where most of the learning happens. 18 months ago, I was sitting on a huge profit and had no doubts it would just keep climbing. People don’t like to talk about the grind, as it isn’t glamourous. That’s why you only ever see the end result on social media. I’ll keep sharing what it is really like to bet and hopefully through this blog, make sure you are prepared for the inevitable stage when you will also face a similar situation. I do laugh at people who feel they have it all figured out after a few winning years, the reason I laugh is that I was just like them at that stage as well. So while it sucked to go through a massive losing run, I am grateful for the lessons it taught. I know the next time it happens (and it will happen again), I’ll be able to deal with it even more successful.

Total Profit for the month was $29,880.00
