This weeks result took a toll on me. It really left me pretty depressed and all those questions that we all worry about started circling in my head again. Will I lose everything? have I just been lucky so far? Is this really a viable way to make some extra cash? can I handle another month of results like these? I know that weeks like this are meant to happen. When you’re risking well over $100,000 a week, it’s not improbable that you will lose 20%. While I know the maths and understand it, it seems emotions are far stronger then my analytical mind. The way the losses happened also made it much worse. I’ll have a post in the next day or two that talks about gambling and depression.
We will start with the positives. The SP totals model continues to do well with $1,900 profit and the other MLB model made $1,000. That was a short list of positives.
The ATP has had a disaster season so far. Almost 12 months are now up and I have bet over half a million dollars on it for a return of……. wait for it……. $17.20. I know Jonno has been working on an updated model and I believe the new ATP model was released yesterday, it started very badly as I woke up to a $3,500 loss. This week ended $2,600 down. There was no Union this week and the NRL lost a small $400. AFL was the real shocker this week and the sport that caused me the most pain as it’s the one I enjoy watching. We started the week well with a big win. That was the last moment I smiled this week. Everything else lost and the real heartbreak was the Richmond game. A win there would have allowed me to escape this week with just a small loss. By then I had decided I was sick of watching the games lose and vowed not to check the scores at all. I went on twitter when the game was halfway through and saw all these comments saying they could not believe Richmond were smashing North. So silly me went and checked the score and saw a 35 point lead at half time. Add in the 24.5 point start and things were looking great, especially if I could also get the straight win which would have returned an extra $5,000. I then went back to twitter later to see comments that did not make me happy. I believe the one that said “8 goals in 11 minutes must be some sort of record” was the one the hurt the most. By now I had given up and knew it would be a loss, but off course they let me hope until the final minutes. $21,000 down the drain thanks to AFL this week. Need a quick turnaround to a few Sportpunter models, as I am very reliant on them for my profit.
I have decided to not watch any AFL games this week, I have deleted the apps off my Iphone and Ipad, blocked the websites on my desktop computer and hired a ninja to slap me if I start to look at any games. If all this fails and I do watch a game, i’ll donate $100 to charity.
ClubGOWI lost $200, should have been more but I missed a few bets as he sent them just before games started and I can not bet live in Australia. PCG continues to win the early games which I miss and I lost a further $600 this week. I almost went back to back with Betswot golf, but our pick lost in a playoff, -$480 this week. Jason Kelly Golf had the one bet for a loss of $100.
A real tough last month. The big picture still looks great and in Mid December when I was down $32,000 I would have given anything to be where I am now. The first $100,000 profit season is now in the air with just 20 days to go. Whatever happens it’s sure to be an interesting end to year 4.
