Is Matched Betting dead?
I’m showing my age here, but it was over 20 years ago that I took up my first “matched bet”.
The offer was from Bet365 and was a £150 for £150 casino bonus. I had to turn over that £150 just 1 time on blackjack. I had no idea matched betting was a thing, I was just a teenager who liked to gamble and this offer seemed pretty good. I remember thinking how easy it was but it wasn’t until a year later that I learned about matched betting casino offers from the Betfair forum.
The next 10 years were a blur of bonus whoring. I travelled the world and made and spent millions. But that story is for another time.
I didn’t do a sportsbook based offer (or follow tipsters) until the casino offers started to die off. By the time I started the Dailyprofit service in 2014 I had pretty much stopped all forms of matched betting. I’d still do an offer here and there and it still paid well, but my accounts were being bonus banned quicker than ever. Eventually, it was not worth the hassle for me.
Over the last 5 years, bookmakers have spent hundreds of millions on marketing. Dailyprofit members have happily taken many of those millions of dollars. You can download a history of every promo bet our service provided over the past 4 and a half years on our results page. Josh was our resident bonus expert and from the over 100 testimonials from members, we know the service was amazing.
But at the start of this month, we closed it down. We still had around 30 members and another 80 odd on the VIP plan, but from a business perspective, it didn’t make sense for me to continue the service. Member churn was much higher as they were being limited faster and we only get new members via this blog (which I am posting on less and less), so without a bigger time commitment from myself, it would slowly dwindle away. Josh was also looking to grow his own small business so it made sense to stop offering the service.
In saying all that, I do not think matched betting is dead or will be dying anytime soon. The fact is that bookmakers have trained their customers in such a way as to always expect some sort of kickback. They have created a problem for themselves and know if they were to stop it they would lose all the customers they have paid hundreds of millions to get. Most bettors have no real urge to bet all the time, and bookmakers know this, that’s why they need to offer incentives to get them betting again.
Not wanting to leave my members without a matched betting service to continue with, I started searching for any other sites offering the same sort of product. I only found one that fit the bill. It offered the same service as we did, but also had produced a heap of software to make the member’s job even easier.
That site is Bonusbank. Each day they show you how to use the bookies’ promos to make risk free profit, but also have a heap of tools such as Dutching software and the ATM. They also have a chrome extension that helps you with Horse racing turnover.
I’ve talked to the site owners and am confident that they were a great alternative for my members. Many moved across and are very happy with the service.
I’m now an affiliate of the site and until the end of this month, anyone using my code will get a 50% discount on their first month’s subscription.
The regular price is $47 per month and by using the code DAILY25 when signing up, you will only pay $23.50 to see if the site will work for you.
